# DiscReveal: Check your version with one click

See whether there is a newer version and check your app against the official download.

Click the update icon to open the check in your browser. You decide whether to download a new version afterwards.

## How to open the check

1. **Click the icon:** Click the update icon next to the app name in DiscReveal. A page opens in your browser, in your selected language.
2. **Let the page check:** The page compares your app with the latest official version. You do not need to copy any codes or compare them yourself.
3. **See the result:** See whether an update is available. If your app differs from the current download, the differences are highlighted in color.

## What does the result mean?

This fingerprint is called SHA-256. A difference is normal for older versions or copies you built yourself; it does not automatically mean something is wrong.

- Your app is current: Its build matches the current official download.
- A new version is available: You can open the current official download.
- The program file differs: The page shows both fingerprints on separate lines and highlights differing characters. A current app build alone does not establish that the files are identical.
- The fingerprint is missing: The version can still be compared, but the program file itself cannot.

## What information is shared?

The link contains your app version, language setting and a digital fingerprint of the program file, when available. Your scanned files and their paths are not included.

The check starts only when you click the icon. The link opens discreveal.com in your browser.

## How do I update DiscReveal?

You decide whether to download a new version. The app never updates itself automatically.

Download the new discreveal-portable.exe from the official website. Close the running app and replace your existing EXE with the new download. DiscReveal itself needs no installation.
